More than five hundred families from farming areas have been affected by the largest climate disaster ever faced by “the gauchos” residents of that state.
LASNET is organising a series of events, which include direct donations, a raffle, and the Solidarity Breakfasts on May 11, 18 and 25 from 10am at Catalyst Social Centre, 146 Sydney Road, Coburg.
The Solidarity Raffle will be drawn on May 25th, 1pm at Catalyst Social Centre, will have amazing prizes like:
-A wooden plant pot + a plant,
-a $100 – a voucher to Royal Stacks (Chapel Street only).

These fundraising will support MST-Brazil and CUFA-Brazil in their campaigns to support rural population, so that hundreds of people can stay safe while their territories are ravaged by storms.
All the proceeds from the solidarity breakfasts, raffle and donations collected in Australia will support more than five hundred families who have been hit by the worst weather disaster the state of Rio Grande do Sul has ever experienced.

Thousands of people have now become climate refugees, sheltering in temporary locations, waiting for the water levels to drop. We know that it will be months before they have their lives on earth again and they will need a lot of support, because as well as the impact on their homes and belongings, their livelihoods have also been lost.
