Mari mari Pu lamien, Mach-April, 2026

Dear brothers and sisters, Hoping you are well,

During the last months/weeks, Latin American struggles have become an example to workers, indigenous communities and marginalised sectors as their people are being clearly conscious of their historical role and acting on it. Their resistances and struggles have attracted people attention from different part of the world. From the Zapatistas to the endless Mapuche struggles fighting for more than 500 years

In Australia many activists have identified this and are building links of solidarity. With grassroots organisations and First nations people in Latin America, which with deep  commitment, are pushing for deep changes in their respective countries.

The Latin American Solidarity Network (LASNET) has been supporting these struggles and creating links with progressive, and anti-system organisations here in Australia. As a result of this work the movement of solidarity with Latin America continues.

LASNET will continue to focus its solidarity efforts with popular (grassroots) and indigenous (First Nations) movements and organisations. In those countries where oppressive politics, most notably neoliberal Capitalism (savage Capitalist), are still being implemented and is continued creating poverty, injustices, violences and inequality.

Latin America Today – March 2026

· The Cuban Revolution is under attack. The current situation, caused by the US’s unparalleled escalation, is worse than anything the Cuban people and government have endured since 1959. The US has stepped up its economic warfare against Cuba, which has been subject to an embargo for more than six decades. Trump has threatened to punish countries that export oil to Cuba. There is also a danger that the US will launch military attacks on Cuba.

· The January 3rd, 2026, unprecedented use of combined military and sophisticated communicational weaponry against Venezuela, kidnapping its president, Nicolas Maduro, and national assembly Deputy Celia Flores, dealt a serious blow to the country’s multifaceted cooperation with Cuba. This was followed by the January 29th cruel and genocidal decision by President Trump to sanction all vessels and countries that supply fuel in any way, shape, or form to Cuba.

· Oppose US threats to Latin America!

Cuba and Venezuela have been particular targets, because of their governments have criticised US foreign policy, including its support for Israel’s genocide against the Palestinians. Trump has also threatened other Latin American countries such as Colombia and Mexico. The US wants to control their natural resources and also wants governments that will be subservient to the US and support its wars

· Countries like Chile, where we see repression on indigenous communities and disenchanted grassroots organised sectors, the disappointed act from progressive forces that clean the path to the neo-fascist and ultra-right president Kast, son of German nazi member who arrived in Chile in 1940’s after the second war.

Kast took office last March 11, just one week ago, and started immediately to cut students benefits and calling to stop immigration from neighbourhood countries. With the aim to make in practice that progress and neoliberal policies only benefit the few .

· Colombia, where progressive Petro’s government continue at the defensive due that the dominant sectors allied to multinationals companies and U.S.A continue with its attacks on new public policies from the new government.

Adding constant obstacles to transformative policies form Petro’s government, still under capitalism domination and coercion. Just editing this newsletter we are washing that the Ecuadorean government is bombing Colombia today Thursday 19, terrible news, with the excuse “Combating Drugs”.

· Peru, where multinational corporations are governed by themselves, plundering the environment driving people to hunger and misery.

· Mexico, where for more than 31 years the Zapatista movement has presented us with creative alternatives to the misery of Capital and neoliberalism, an inspiring project for real transformation to challenge the capitalist, colonial Mexican State. Struggle undermanning by the current government, which despite its rhetoric is trying to transform capitalism within.

· Not a different situation in the rest of Latin America, with new authoritarian government in deep romance with neo-fascism, today with the creation of the America’s Shield a new alliance from the right-wing’s Latin American presidents. Like Miley in Argentina, Kast in Chile, Novoa in Ecuador, Fernández in Costa Rica, Asfura  in Honduras, Bukele in El Salvador, Peña in Paraguay, Mulino in Panama, Irfaan Ali in Guyana, Kangaloo in Trinidad and Tobago and the surprise victory of the right-wing candidate in Bolivia, that put an end to the progressive or the pink tide process initiated in 1999-2000 with the victory of Chavez in Venezuela, a really concern for the future to our people. Today, we are assisting to the dark tide of conservative and neo fascist long night of people rights’ setbacks.

We could continue and continue, these countries devoted to USA imperialism and neo-colonialism embracing capital-neoliberal policies. Despite this dark times, the indigenous peoples together with the grassroots movements, social political groups, women, children, the elderly, and anti-systemic workers are maintaining the resistance to Imperialism, Capitalism, Patriarchy and Colonialism.

Today without a hesitation it is so important to support the Palestinian people in their liberation process.

The Israeli entity and USA, beasts with power, will not stop and therefore we must not stop, we must intensify our actions and to continue denouncing European and USA imperialism and Zionist demons.

The struggle of the Palestinian people is the struggle of Latin America people; the indigenous people of Latin America are waking up and soon there will be millions following the example of the grassroots movements and following the Zapatista example of unity. The Unity of the grassroots movements, of the grassroots political organizations and indigenous peoples who are facing these demons is crucial. we must globalize the struggle.

We must unite, we must unite our struggles, together we are unbeatable, that is why we must support the Palestinian people, they are our people, we need to rise in the fight with them, now and always.

Not to the genocide in Palestina.

Not to USA intervention in Latin America

Long live to Indigenous peoples and people’s organisations from below!
